Still Wet Behind the Ears

This is me trying to figure out how to make a movie out of a series of pictures and add sound to it, the way Bird Anon does so well. I took these shots of some bluebirds through my mother's kitchen window last winter when they came out of their houses to eat some of the sumac we tied up in the tree.

WOW how impressive Red Mojo!!! Thoroughly enjoyed your dramatic bluebirds! Not only the music, but the contrast between the blue and red and photographs were excellent. Can't wait to watch your next movie ;)

PS: What is 'sumac'?

How nice! I am not at all handy with this, so you have my full admiration :-) Is sumac the same as peanuts in a net?

Anon & Wieneke,
Thank you for liking my first awkward little movie attempt!

Sumac is a plant that grows here. There is a poison variety and an edible (to birds) one. It has large red spikes of fuzzy flowers that bloom in the fall. We pick them and dry them until winter. When food is hard to find, (bluebirds eat bugs primarily, but in the winter they'll eat sumac or berries, not seed) we tie them out for the bluebirds in a place where we can enjoy watching them.
I usually get a phone call from Mom, "The bluebirds were out today!" That day I was there and had my camera with me.

i am thoroughly impressed! i couldn't do this to save my life, at least i don't think so!

that little bluebird is wonderful. between you and anon and lavender, i'm starting to understand why i so loved the little birds in my childhood fairy-tales.

kj, that was fairly easy. I can't seem to attach a pic to my blogger name. I can come over and we can share info. some time if it suits you. :)

yes, rm, let's do that. except i can't show you how to attach a photo to your blogger name either!! my pal ces takes care of me in matters like these!

Thanks for the information about 'sumac'! It's wonderful you and Mom do that for the Bluebirds, and also how KJ remembers why she loved small birds from childhood stories :)

This is wonderful. I have never attempted to make a movie or a slide show. Hmn, thinking of doing it. I am impressed. You are very adventurous and very kind to the birds.

So that is sumac. never saw it before.

I have not been blogging much because I am tired coming from work. Have been very busy.

Anon, Mom and I both love birds, Bluebirds are her favorite. I built her a couple of bluebird houses, and seven or eight of them pile into each one during the winter and huddle for warmth. On a sunny day, or when they are starving (whichever comes first) They all come out looking for food. It's an amazing site.

Ces, Relax, take your shoes off, have a cigar. You deserve a break. Then can you help me attach a picture to my blogger name? Movies are pretty easy, I'd offer to help, but I don't think you'll need it. I am looking forward to seeing your pilot.

Those are great photos. When I have some time (ha! ha ha ha!) I want to try to learn to do a little video editing.

CS, Ah yes, time. It's that thing there seems to be less of each year. Soon you'll have your place done enough to just live there for a while, but there will always be projects.

Yes, I would love for you to help me with step by step instructions. The photo with image as your avatar is easy. Let me know when you want it.

RED MOJO said...

Ces, I sent you an email. I hope it helps.
I want it now! :)

Okay, I did not see the email. I think you sent it to my blog email. Okay.

Oh I forgot. Thank you.

Ces, I did send it to your blog email. Can you pick that up? Let me know if you still need the info.
