Random Thoughts While Stripping

I am working on a refinishing project right now that needs to be completed by the weekend. I am still doing the stripping which is bad, because It takes time for stain and subsequent coats of polyurethane to dry. Be that as it may, this is where I am, and what I should be doing right now instead of writing this! But, my birthday is over and I couldn't leave that tired old post up for days on end, so onward and upward, then downstairs to continue with the stripping. I never knew stripping could be so tiring, and it doesn't pay as well as one would think either, of course, I'm not done yet!

Today was a beautiful spring day. I spent a little time outside breaking up and disbursing a large snow bank on the side of my house that doesn't get a lot of sun, so it'll melt. The large pile was caused by all of the snow that slid off that half of the roof all winter long, and that was a LOT of snow.

The goldfinches are starting to brighten for their mating season and things that should be green are starting to become green. I love to see my surroundings coming back to life, it makes me happy, and it makes me want to clean, even though no company is coming! I KNOW!!!!

Yesterday, for my birthday row, I rowed a personal best for 16,000 meters. I guess I needed to prove that being one year older wouldn't slow me down. It sped me up!

Thursday it's supposed to be sunny and 67 degrees. I'll be taking the convertible for a spin, maybe to the driving range to hit some balls for the first time this year! That is making me smile already!

On that note, I need to get back to it. I hope you all are letting some good energy flow through your lives as well.

I thought stripping was supposed to be fun.

Take a bath! I see you're practising using your camera to take photographs of the goldfinches and surroundings ;) I'll work on "some good energy" when finished the TAX!

anon, I know, I'm sooo busy right now. I really haven't picked up my camera. Thanks for pointing that out! Good luck with the TAX.

Speaking of spring and stripping... once when I lived in Southern California, I was out in the back yard, stripping a hutch. My goosie (a white chinese goose) came over to see what was happening - she was extremely sociable. To my horror, before I could stop her, she dipped her bill into the small can to taste my "drink" as she was prone to share everything, and of course you know that stuff is deadly to tender mouth tissues... I flushed her mouth immediately but she walked around drooling for an hour. She fully recovered, and lived a long happy life, but I learned to cover up or keep out of reach my lethal substances around my beloved pets.

tsduff, Thanks for that poignant story of how you got goosed while stripping, *gulp*

Yea! You're finally getting soem warm weather!

I tough that pil of goop was a dog at first. (Not a live dog, but like a dog-shaped molasses cookie.)

cit, I know the weather has been especially kind for my birthday week. Yes, I get a whole week! :)

If you are still with snow I won't complain about the rain.

RED MOJO said...

debra kay, so that's it. You tell me you won't complain! Those are my choices then, for you to actually complain, or for you to state you won't?
Wow! Not a good week for you then?

There's stripping, and there's -- stripping.

Congratulations on speeding up with age, whatever that word represents to you.

And birthdays require an entire month, not just a week. Take heed.

Red, it actually has been a rough week-my comment was about all the perkiness I could muster at the time. I'm in need of a percolater rejuvinator.

There's an award for you on my blog.

RED MOJO said...

Quickroute, Yes, it is, sometimes I let it wander when I write my blog and end up with stuff like this. Oh well.

Anon, What?! An award for me?! Oh dear, whatever for?

heartinsanfrancisco, Exactly, what does that mean?

debra kay, I here they've got them on sale at Macys.

Ces, Huh, an award? I'll be right there!

So I was just stopping by to see if you had anything new to say, having already read this post, but was kinda brain dead and didn't have a comment last time. NOW I have a comment about your blog post title. Made me laugh upon second reading (I must have only focused the picture UNDER the title last time)! This laughing of mine is because I have a friend who works in the adult entertainment biz, as you may have noticed when I wrote about porn awhile back on my blog. And we were chatting a bit this morning...hence the adult industry on the brain when I actually READ your blog post title. Now I have random thoughts OF my friend stripping...this is bad, yes?

RED MOJO said...

theweyrd1, I would say, it's only bad if you what is revealed, is a picture you don't want in your head! lol

Rachel Schell said...

you are lucky that you have good enough cabinets to strip. I have to sand and paint mine because they are made of laminate.

RED MOJO said...

rachel, Hi there, nice to see your face here again. It was actually a hutch I was refinishing for a client.
I do hate the laminate! I feel ya.

What did you use to do the stipping? I used to use Stripese but the last time I did it, I used a citrus bases product that worked much better and had not fumes and did not sting me when I got a little bit on my skin.
