Birdhouses

I like building bird houses. I've been building bluebird houses for my mom for many years. Two Christmases ago I built some for my friends that looked like their houses, but were still fairly simple. They were time consuming, but I never mind spending time on things I know will be appreciated. This summer I built some simple ones for a "yart" sale, (combination yard & art) over at KJ's house.

They were fun to do, and I sold almost all of them. I also was asked if I could build one for someone as a Christmas gift, that looked like their house in Maine. I agreed and when I got the pictures of the house, I was surprised! Who would've suspected it would be a contemporary house with funny curves and roof lines. I puzzled and thought and puzzled some more, just like a Seuss character.

I didn't get the house done in time for Christmas due to just really poor time management on my part. This house took many hours to complete. I am really happy to finally have it finished, and I really hope the woman who asked me to build it likes it a whole bunch. She has been incredibly patient and understanding in all of this. I really am lucky in that way. I have had the pleasure of working for some of the kindest people one could hope for, and this project was no exception. I think I'll take some time off from birdhouses for a while. When's Mother's Day?

This is not a birdhouse, this is a complete small copy of a mansion. Very much worthwile waiting for it. Very beautiful made! You can start making this ones for the rich and famous. I know for sure that here in the Netherlands people with mansions would be extreme willing to buy this birdhouses for a lot of money. Just one advertisement in a special glossy....

Thanks Anon! Of course you'll need some very tiny furniture, but there is a large section of the house the birds don't have access to. Your looking very animated today!

wieneke, Thank you, I don't think they are worth what I would have to charge. They take to darn long to build.

boo7, thank you. I love the idea of a bird house that looks like your house, but it is labor intensive.

This bird is wearing a new sexy swimming cossie Red Mojo! I might need to warm up in that section where the other birds don't access because it's COLD outside here! Hurry up making my tiny furniture!

Wow. These are beautiful! I love birdhouses, and yours are prettier than many people houses.

It's good to know there won't be any more homeless birds around since you're on the job.

Sweet! You did a fantastic job on that! It's like a dream home for shrunken people. (Bet that dog would fit in there!)

anon, Yes that's very sexy, maybe too sexy for the house!

heartinsanfrancisco, I am at trying to make a dent in the homeless bird epidemic.

rachel, thanks :)

cs, whether that little dog would fit or not would depend entirely on my level of enthusiasm at stuffing him in there.

kj, thank you, I could never make money at it. Too time consuming.

ces, Speechless, Wow, How'd I do that? Thank you!

what if you charged $ 350 or 400?

kj, I could probably do it for between 400 and 500, but I don't think people would pay that for a birdhouse.

HAHA, oh dear you're right, I have changed my mind about moving in - the other birds can enjoy the tiny furniture. My house would have to look more like an artist's cabin anyway, and I won't share ... :)
