Putting the Plow on My Truck

Okay, so tomorrow the forecast is snow, with more of the same on Monday, and it's definitely cold enough to stick, so today I went out into the bitter windy weather to hook up my plow. This is the first time I've done it alone, but how hard could it be? Armed with long underwear, boots, gloves, a cap, and boundless optimism I wandered outside to my already heated truck. (remote starter)
I jumped into it and pulled up pretty close to the plow, parked it, got out to look, realigned it, pulled forward, parked it, got out to look...if at this point you're sensing there's a pattern here, you'd be right! There was also lots of raising and lowering the plow by cranking the jack, there was also pushing, kicking, jumping on, a few love taps with a sledge hammer, and finally, one side was in place. To line up the other side there was more driving, raising and lowering the plow, kicking, and you guessed it swearing. I did get it on however and considered that a Win. Yes, it took about the same amount of time it takes some people to shovel their entire driveway, but victories, no matter how small are important to recognize, celebrate, and even blog about.

So are you going to plow the streets in your town or just your driveway? Come down here where it was 79 today and people are wearing short. I wish I knew a good and good-looking carpenter like you.

I mean "shorts".

Beautiful shot. It almost makes me miss snow.

Here in California, I think about winters past in NY, MA, VT, MN, NC, TN, all the snowy places I've lived.

I think I'd like to VISIT snow this winter.

Ces, You do know a good good-looking carpenter like me. Me. I just don't live near you :)

Heart, when I lived in Sacramento, I used to go up to the Tahoe area to ski. Only about an hour and half. I liked that, visit the snow, but don't live in it.

kj, I will be by tomorrow with ice cream to check on you and make sure you are squared away. If you don't have a plow guy yet, I'll be your plow guy, plus, it's not going to snow. I made the whole thing up, guess I shouldn't have done all those mushrooms today before blogging.

Where am I? Is this a hallucination? I can't even see where the driveway is supposed to be!

Only experienced snow in Decemeber once ... more then twenty years ago! Didn't have to move any, I moved it by the handful to throw at my Opa :)

but now you can say that you have the plow on! and you can help the less fortunate out. such Christmas spirit! it's freezing here too, it's been snowing all week, but supposed to warm up a bit by Monday and then more snow by Friday.

the weather is so weird.

Anon, If you had grown up in a place with snow you'd know that before you can throw snow balls at your Opa, you first need to build a fort strong enough to withstand an attack by an elite snow fighting force. Then, fire away!

rachel, I think we're in for a hard long winter, and I'm already sick of it!

she knocks on the kitchen door and delivers two pints of ice cream for her friend who is abit dazed and skimming along on crutches. then she says, "i'll plow you out--don't worry about it".

tis the season to appreciate kind acts and good friends.

A little bird told me that angel Red Monjo went around this morning doing good and kind deeds. You are a sweetie! Thanks for plowing my best friend's driveway.

Ces, It's my pleasure. Just don't get too many more friends.

ah yes... love taps with the sledge hammer... LOL ... my old dodge pick up understands them better than any other form of communication. The snow is wondrously pretty... but I'm, still happier with asphalt showing. You and your plow are impressive :)

That snow looks almost pretty (I'm really terrified of the stuff). But I think I would enjoy hooking up and driving the plow. I haven't actually hooked up my trailer yet, going to go out and practice one of these days.
