Clean Up, Company's Coming!

Housework! Let me just start by saying, I put up a good front. People who visit my home think I'm a certain kind of person, neat, clean, organized etc. In fact I am another kind of person, the kind of person who doesn't do much housework at all, until it has to be done. Yes, I do own organized, most of the time, but I do not always put things in the place that I have provided for them to go, so I will always no where they are. I typically find that the worse it gets, the worse I get. I may keep the house as neat as a pin for a week, but if one day of laziness passes, others are sure to follow, until I need a shovel and a box of trash bags, or a gallon of gas and a match, but gas is so expensive now, and I could drive close to 10 or 11 miles with that gallon. Often times having company is what keeps things from getting to this crap-piled-everywhere-super-nova level of disarray. I diligently vacuum, scrub, polish, all of it, before anyone can witness the dusty dog-hair coated carnage. Although I have a few friends I frequently just pop in on, gratefully, they never return the favor, and are all still sure that I am one of the most fastidious people they know. I can remember as a kid when my mother would start up the vacuum, the conversation would go something like this.

Rotten Kid (me) "Hey Mom, Who's coming over?"

Mom: "Just because I'm cleaning doesn't mean someone's coming over!"

me: "I know Mom, you're like, June Cleaver or something."

Mom: *sigh* "The Terva's are coming over to play cards."

So, I know where I got it, and maybe if I had company more often, the ugly side wouldn't ever show, anyway my point is, and I do have one, that recently I was given an award by CS. I love awards, and recognition, and presents, and surprises, and long walks on the...but I digress. She gave me a wonderful award for my blog and recommended people come over here to my blog to check me out.

Oh My God!!! I'm not ready. I come back and look at my blog, one of her readers had already been here and left a comment. I didn't tidy up at all, I didn't write a new post, nothing, I suppose many have come, seen, and left wondering what on earth CS could have been thinking bestowing such an honor upon a messy blog-keeper like me? If you think that's messed up, check out the color of this award!

WOOHOO another award for the REAL BLOGGER who DOES ROAR (even with a vacuum cleaner sometimes)! My Mother had and still has a home like a hospital. I try my best best not to :)

diesel, Thank you. Always nice to see your avatar here.

boo7, It's a small world, unless you have to clean it!

david mcmahon, just wearing a tie is too formal for my place, even if it crooked.

charlotta-love, it's about time (eyes rolling). I drive an F250 superduty extra-cab with an 8 foot bed. It's a behemoth named "big red" I have it pictured in a past post.

Clutterers anonymous says that people keep messy houses to keep other people away. OK, I KNEW that about myself...so before I clean my house I'm going to find new ways to keep people away...LOL. Or not.

My Aunt Rita (who is not my aunt) has over 300 handmade porcelain dolls, four parrots, three full size buffets crammed full of china, a crystal chandelier in the dining room, and not ONE, not ONE speck of dust. That is proof to me that there aliens in my lineage. Wish I had some of that teleporting the clutter power.

I have the same problem with a little bit of mess leading to demotivation for me. And since I'm in th emidst of a remodel, you can just imagine the pure chaos.

Sorry to add one more knick knack to dust!

Oh, the Tervas. They used to visit my parents, too, and June would clean like crazy to erase all traces of her messy family.

Actually, my mother really did keep a very antiseptic house, but her dresser drawers looked like a rummage sale at the Goodwill. She was a secret slob.

Your blog looks just fine, despite the purplish lion, so no sweat, girl. And congratulations on all those well-deserved awards.

kj, whew, I'm not the only one.

debra kay, I don't want to keep people away, unless my house is a mess. wait.

cs, I think you're my behavoral doppleganger.

heart, Thank you, I feel much better about having first-timers here now, hell, even the Tervas could stop by. :)

You are too funny! But don't you dare start comparing blog homes to real homes... geez looouuieese.... my house is already a (what did you call it dog hair carnage or some such thing) mess! If I have to start worrying about cleaning my blog home I'm in deep doo doo. HELP! Besides, your place is getting more cool every day. I can see you tinker with it a lot- it looks great all the time. Think I might keep coming back :)
